Testimonials from Parents and Participants
 Tea with Mrs. B:
My children loved having tea parties with Sarah Berto. It gave them a fun and gentle introduction into the world of using proper etiquette at the table . They loved baking the treats the day before the parties. All the teapots, cups  and saucers were just their size. They enjoyed wearing fun hats and beaded necklaces to the parties. They were able to practice using polite conversation and table etiquette. Afterward, they all learned to help wash and pack away the tea cups careful. They look back at their tea party days with such fond memories because they had so much fun while being introduced to using proper manners.

My first and second grade students benefited from and loved Sarah’s tea parties during her years at our school.  A high point of each week was always Friday, because that was ‘tea party day.’  Mrs. Berto definitely shone in this role – she has a knack for making etiquette a delight for children.  The responsibilities of preparing, cleaning up and packing away also became fun, which is, of course, the perfect setting for learning.  Here are quotes from two of my former second graders:  “My favorite part was washing dishes and rinsing” and “Tea parties are fun because it feels like everyone is working together.”

"White Gloves, Black Tie":

Sarah Berto shines in her delivery of her classes. My daughter belonged to the White Gloves, Black Tie for four years and was always keen to attend and learn something new and valuable for life, along with her friends.

With her kind, gentle and nurturing composure, Sarah has helped to create the White Gloves, Black Tie Club fostering positive mannerisms, appropriate for 5th - 8th grade students. Through the succession of each etiquette lesson, my girls have gained the experience of learning the importance of becoming young ladies, and my son, in becoming a gentleman.
(Kara S., parent)

White Gloves, Black Tie was a wonderfully fun way to introduce etiquette to children on many different levels. The children learned how to prepare for a dinner during the classes. They learned how to set the table, decorate, plan music, prepare the different courses for a dinner, serve the meal, clean up and dress appropriately for it. It was taught in a fun and loving way. I love that my children have learned which fork to use when they go out and how to properly pass a dish. They've learned what's appropriate at the table so that later they will hopefully not be as intimidated of feel embarrassed for not knowing what to do in a formal situation. They rally had a fun time. Even my son who was nervous and oped not to join the first year, decided to take it the following year and was pleasantly surprised it was fun, not scary. It was a great learning experience for my kids.

Both our son and daughter were part of White Gloves, Black Tie. They learned how to conduct themselves to be polite and have manners. They learned how to behave at the dinner table, how to greet others and carry on a conversation, and how to act to gain the favor of others.  I would highly recommend this class for all children to learn the social and etiquette skills they need to be successful in adulthood. Sarah is a fantastic and trustworthy example of etiquette and will be a superb teacher for your child(ren). This is a five star class!

The experience of learning good habits and being able to serve people with confidence and in a respectable manner are part of one's growth of becoming a humble human being, and one of faith.
(Debbie G., parent)

Black Tie White Gloves is a very beneficial program because it teaches kids how to use manners and effective communication in everyday life. A benefit from the program is communication. For example, Mrs. Berto taught the students to look people in the eye because it makes the person feel like they are being listened to. Another benefit is manners at the dineer table.  Mrs. Berto taught the students never to use their phones at the table because it shuts off social interaction and makes other people feel ignored. White Gloves. Black Tie is a very important program that teaches kids how to use manners and communication that they can use for the rest of their lives.
